Hey everybody welcome to another episode of BLEE! And the Bible. We're back baby. Back in the saddle, look in. It's, you know what? We gotta stop promising our listeners things. We're really not. We love doing this. Like I just didn't get in the outline for this episode and everything. I'm like I just love doing this and then it's like also I have so many things to do. It's frustrating. This is, this is our life. One big bowl of frustration. But here we are. Recording. You know episode 13. And one of the things parents need in the toolbox is a good way to keep track of tasks. Especially if you have a family with kids and you want your kids to learn responsibility. Now if you don't teach a kid your responsibility. Hey, it's okay. This whole world's gonna burn anyway, right? But you really should teach a kid your responsibility. And part of that is teaching them and encouraging them that accomplishing work as given by God is glory to him. And so we should do those things. And one of the ways you could do that is by engaging with something that one of our friends has done that is absolutely awesome. Yes. It is called the path of progress. And you can go to pathofrogress.ca. And you can actually sign up. You can sign up for a 30-day free trial of this app. And in it you can, you'll get your own parent dashboard. You can set up your children's profiles, your spouse's profile. I mean, heck, even if you just want to give them some drawers to do. But yeah, it's a gamified version of discipleship onto responsibility. They can pick an avatar. They can pick pet companions. They can do all sorts of things. But all following a path that you have laid out for them with daily and rotating and weekly chores, they'll earn coins that they can use for different store items in the game. And gems that they can... I don't know what that word is. Use. That was a tough word to pull out. No, that wasn't the word I was talking about. Gems that they can turn in for real life prizes, too. Like going out for ice cream or getting to pick the family movie that week or whatever you set it to is the thing that they can buy with their gems. Yeah. One of the things my youngest wants to do is have a movie marathon. And I'm like, all right, well, we can set up a whole bunch of tasks to get to that. Five million gems. Like, it's like, I want to do an all-nighter. I'm like, oh, no, you don't. You think you do, but you don't. Oh, man. You don't want to do it all. It's going to be a boring all-nighter. That's going to be bad. But here's the fun cell. Basically, like, if you really want to get just nitty gritty with it, it's an app that combines Lord of the Rings with Dungeons and Dragons and then fable all together. You get to go on these quests to complete these missions, right? These quests. And basically, you build up your character. And by doing so, you're able to then engage in both in-game and real world gifts, real world rewards. And what's cool is kids like the app. The app is really cool. And it actually makes the chores like something that is much more engaging with the idea that you accomplish things. And when you take your responsibility, it actually produces good fruit. And that's really the goal of the app. And so Bible reading and taking out the trash, making your bed, doing a random act of kindness. All of these things can become part of a larger journey. And that quest can be completed and there can be that progress. That's the whole idea of the path of progress. And here's the best part. It's really cool. And really, really well. And if you guys know, you know that we have another podcast called Carpe Feade. And if you use that code, C-A-R-P-E-F-I-D-E, you will be able to get really, really cool free avatars for your character. There's even, I don't know if you knew this, Justin. There's even a new exclusive Carpe Feade coloring page. Oh, yeah. Oh, no, this is exciting. Thanks for telling me. You're welcome. You're welcome. But if you're wondering, is it, does he do his app? We utilize our infrequency in this podcast, a blue in the Bible. The answer is no. He loves it. It's definitely a loving project that he's taken on. And it's absolutely awesome. Top to bottom, done very, very, very well. So we would encourage you to go to pathofprogress.ca. And you can sign up for a free, free 30-day trial, use our code, get cool avatars, and get after it. Yes. Yes. And with that out of the way, we're on episode 13 of Bluey Spy Games. Spoiler alert. Not my favorite episode. Yes. It's not my favorite episode either. Truth be told. Not a bad episode. Just not my favorite. Yeah. I mean, is there a bad episode of Bluey? I don't know. Even the bad ones, it's like, I mean, I'm still going to watch it. And I'm going to watch it again and again and again. I'm going to watch it again. And I'm not even going to complain about it really. No, it gets on. I'm chilling. I'm good. I'm relaxed. Because it's Bluey at the end of the day. All right. Let's get into our segments. I was trying to find the coloring page. But I'm scared to go to the website because it's going to make noise again. But it's really fun. Because it's really fun. It plays this like tavern kind of a jaunty tavern music that you would walk into like a medieval tavern. And it's like, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude. It's actually really cool. Nonetheless, don't do that, Jesse. Don't try to find the page because we will be inundated with the music, which is fun. I can lock it down. But not in keeping like Bluey. I can lock into our partner portal. Hold on. Hold on. I got this. He doesn't have it. He doesn't have it, guys. Nope. No, I'm serious. Bro, I got it. I got it. The reason I wanted to mention this, the reason I wanted to mention this is because the coloring page has Bluey on it. Dude, it's our carpet. That's perfect. It's the Carpefe de Dite with Bluey. That's so great. Wait up, Screechup. See, now I need this. I'm Screechup, dude. I got it. I got to set it to you. It's got Bluey on it. Yeah. Just set it to you. Hold on. I thought I set it to you. Yeah. This is why you're here for Bluey and the Bible. You're here for this. This is what you love. This is the Bible. So if you use code, C-A-R-P-E-F-I-D-E, you can get yourself an exclusive Carpefe de X Bluey in the Bible coloring page. Oh, it's perfect. All right, guys. You do need to do this now. You definitely need to use the code to get this color in page. Dude, isn't it great? It's amazing. It is great. It's so great. All right. All right, Jesse, could you give us some for real life on this episode? Yeah, once I get back to my browser, I want to see what happens with the public. All right, so this episode, Episode 13, Season 1, Episode 13, is a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game that's not a game The other kids form their own games as factions threaten to rip apart the very fabric of the delicate social connection We shall find out in Episode 13 of the Spy Games I just wanted to read it because I wrote it and I didn't know how he would do it with his hands Thank you, Jessica. That was absolutely great I am a Christian, so I do enjoy a good, authorial intent, so I tried to read it with that in mind You did a good job. You did a great. Thanks. The basic premise of this episode is that the Spy game is... I don't know that you'll get it from the clips that we play, so I want to make sure you know that the actual laying out of the Spy game Because we're not doing the whole... we don't just play the whole episode That would be like some sort of cabaret infringement That would land us in Australian jail And it's hot there It's an Australian jail just Australian, isn't it a whole whole whole entire cop? Everything inside of the coast is Australian jail Because now, not only do all of the things naturally there want to kill you, the insects, the plants, the animals, but also the government Anyway, the game itself is a game where they're trying to brew a special potion that'll let them control the adults They have to spy in like steel little hair Just from their tails and mix it into the potion so they can control the adults And it's relatively cute kind of fun, I get it But it does lead to the breakdown of social fabric It just does the whole bossy and I don't want to do this And you know, fortunately the episode ends before they all eat each other Right, right before they always eat the fat one first So it makes sense It does, it does, it does, it does, it does, it does, it does, it does, it does, yeah, form of energy Yeah, you got to get the, you don't want the most meat I'm kidding, Bluey is not a Chinese show, they don't eat dogs in the show Anyway, racial stereotypes decide Well, I'll just throw in China right under the bus there But when you have more Chinese, they wouldn't have to eat the dogs I would throw China under the bus every second Every day of the week Every time I'm going to throw in Chinese listeners, it's not your fault We know whose fault it is Anyway, I don't think we have Chinese listeners, dude I've seen the map There's like this one dude over here in like, swing wow, providence A It's like way over here in the map, anyway, nonetheless To be determined I just kind of have zero downloads right now Like what are you talking about? Alright, there's two funny bits in this I'm gonna pull it out for our favorite bits But I didn't pull the one favorite bit out Favorite bits, because it's also part of the difficulty So you'll have to wait till the difficulty to get to where it's like a favorite bit But our first favorite bit is so real It's so real You ever take your kid to the bathroom, Jesse? Uh, yes, remember that time at Disney? Oh my god, I said, do you remember that time at Disney? Oh no Yes, and sometimes no Yes, and sometimes Disney line makes it a lot in the quarter So if you're ever waited for the Avatar ride, there is a bathroom halfway through the line Which we found immediately after this wall child beating a cup It was a whole day But we got it done, we did the ride before Oh my gosh Anyway, but have you ever taken your kid to the bathroom? You've had to, you know, you're waiting Protecting that child because you're waiting outside the door You're like, what's taking so long? And it's like, oh well, I thought it was number one, but now it's number two You know that that bathroom is gonna end up being a much longer stay Anyway, that's our favorite bit from this episode Take it away One man went to my home, one man went to my home, one man went to my home, one man Hey, go on in there, Bingo I can feel my sausage burning I started just through your weed and now it's time to repeat Oh, two men went to my home, one man went to my home It's so bad Oh, this bad, it's just like He's just leading up against the wall, the exasperation I started doing it a little bit And then it's headed to a poo This is very a monster zinc-esque scene Yes, yes And we all feel the pain, we know it, it happens, it does happen But that's gonna be the triplicalties The triplicalties of this episode Oh, biscuits Oh, biscuits We'll start off, we'll kick it off with just some general overview of the chaos And trying to set up the game here that they're going to play the spy game against the parents Can the sad pulls Bingo? My name is Spock Oh sure Do you want Bingo? I'm gonna go and get dad's apple Louie, can I get dad? No, we can't say no at this part You're always together, grow up for the potion Aww What if we don't need a potion? What about if we use this wand instead? I already told you Any potion broth can control grown ups Oh yeah, that's right So you go and get some more potion broth Bingo? Yeah Yeah Okay Let's go Okay Okay Immediately The signed roles are not what they are to desire to be It's just naturally happens in a brand game And naturally the older kid is always trying to get the younger kid to do whatever the older kid wants That's just the way Right It's just the way life works Now it's as simple as Bingo just My name's not Bingo for this game It's Spockle Shocks Which is great That's a great game But like even then, Louie's not pretending in the game to even call Bingo by her pretend name Missing the pretending part of the pretend game we're playing Yeah, that's pretty lame Louie That was those Those are real It's real jerk move Yeah, do you feel Do you feel that Bingo's pain having been a younger a younger sibling? Just get lost around When I was old enough to care, I never saw you I was like It was like my older brother went out to get milk and never came home We didn't really interact Well Oh my gosh So you're relating to a whole different segment of the population I guess but that's why I had my new games and books and that was enough to never I didn't have a brother until I was an adult And that concludes this episode Okay We're not going to unpack that Now I was just Okay, so we never played anything pretends together Okay, it's a be fair That is not true I pretend taped you to the floor Oh, you Powerbombed you into the bridge None of that was pretend That was for real life I pretend blamed you for breaking that lab Oh my gosh That was awful I had nothing to do with that Now do you feel that you can relate I'm sorry I'm sorry Reeling it back in And this next This next Chirpicalty clip We'll kind of focus in on how being bossy can kind of come back to bite you And so bluey kind of putting on her you know I'm the big sister I'm in charge of the spy game It's funny because she kind of seems seemingly bosses not just bingo But it's he's also trying to dictate the entirety of the game And it does start to bring in those Degradations of the fabric of the game The social fabric starts to kind of melt down a little bit here as maybe the Bossiness comes out Oh and you know Bandits also the girl the girl master don't forget that You're burning them now be right I need the toilet I'm boss day Hey what are your kids doing down there Bingo It meant to be getting potion gas I don't want to hurt Potion gas anymore And my name is Sparkle Salt You're not playing spires anymore Good Come on bingo Don't turn those top ones yet Good riddle Yeah Yeah The bossiness may have slightly over steps Just kicked her right out of the game just like that You're not playing spa games anymore It is funny because the scene sets up where blue is trying to sneak over and steal one of her dad's hairs Mix into the potion with the potion grass It is foiled because bingo has to go to the bathroom And apparently go to the bathroom is what ruins the game because you know bingo is not carrying out her end of the spikings She has to get the potion grass in order for there to be a potion God forbid Oh she's got to go to the bathroom like come on man And again the pretend the one thing that blueie could be doing right is just simply using her pretend name Of sparkle shots but she doesn't and so bingo is bingo bingo to like she denaming her she's dead She's dead She's being dead Ironically in its asscare pairs Ironically in a pretend game And I'll leave that hang for everyone and the listening audience I say that again because you cut out I don't know where you say Oh I said ironically it's in a pretend game Oh yes Oh yes In the land of make believe Yeah Anyway The difficulty starts to spiral into all members of the spy game group As shortcuts are taken in the potion now that the potion grass get her is no longer playing spy games And as the potion shortcuts are taken the fighting breaks out Now we can get in the grinder I'm first Okay Blueie's mom Get up And dance around Wooo Oh my god Not honey's mom I said blueie's mom It's not working properly Let me try I'm going crash Maybe we need another pie car happy Maybe we need another pie car Maybe we need the pie car Oh it's classic Maybe we need another pie and cone Just throw it by cones in there But there's not potion grass They need potion grass Somebody need the potion work There's like trash Yeah, but McKenzie was like what about this potato chip bag? It's just just the potion has degraded significantly It's taking a turn It's like in a heavy powder when you get accidentally get the wrong the wrong mixture of stuff and then you turn into something weird Ooh Like what? I forget but I feel like they definitely messed up at least one potion Did they did they fix them? Oh yeah and everybody is fine Oh so it was like It was like the moneypipes on search for the grail She turned me into a new Yes I got better Yes exactly Yes, well as the fighting breaks out because the potion is all off and it's not controlling the adults correctly And oh no, I want to go first This leads to some introspection from blueie Hey, Blueie, we need the toilet too I want to play the game, hopefully Ah, is this your spy game? Yeah, I want to do it in the jokes And when did this start happening? It started when the windows stop playing Finished Check this out Where dogg's kid? We all have a place in the pack Now look what happens when I take the Bottom one out Does that make sense? No Okay, just do your best kid This is also a favorite bit Blueie brings her problem to bad did No one's playing the game properly And bandit gets this metaphor He gets these stacks, these stones up Just right But what happens when you take the bottom one out They all fall over He just looks at it Do you get it? No Okay, well, do your best So Surprise me before it was Surprise me with a reel I just watched the reel the other day when it said It said When the chief after Moana tries to stack his stone And it's the part of the game And it's the pile of stones And a conch cell on top And he can't stack the stone on top of the conch cell Because it's not a Felt surface So it's just a sky Super confused try to figure out where to put his rock And he just lifts up the conch And puts the rock out And puts the shell back What do you do with this? But what are the things Bink, bandit does say Which is really important kind of important to the The culmination of how we go to solve the problem Is that dogs were meant to be part of a pack And we all have different Responsibilities in the pack And it's a great lesson The metaphor of the stacking of the rocks Didn't necessarily land But it was a good idea It was a good idea I like it And the time to was made And with the tripliculty Outlined, you move to the dollar box And what should I care? Thank you, unicorns And what should I care? Let me tell you why you should care Eventually, Bluey has this realization Through no help to her, her father's metaphor She has a realization That it's a lot better When she's doing things with her friends And she's actually her little sister So let's see Let's hear like here This is an audio medium Let's hear this resolution Bink, can you come and play with us again? Bluey, I'm Sparklesome I've told you this before Sorry, you still want to play? Can I get to do a spy? Well, no But I promise I'll think of something really fun Okay I promise, I will think of something really fun And the scene is actually So not really nice because Bluey looks off and sees Bingo Doing her little dances Because she's Sparklesome And as she's dancing, Bluey realizes Like she just kind of likes playing with her sister And she wants her sister to be a part of it And so she goes over and she makes this appeal That she will make the game Something that is enjoyable For Bingo as well That she'll work hard And finally, instead of just ignoring She actually does apologize For not calling her sister her pretend game pretend name And I think the beautiful part of this particular dollar box Is because it shows how we're connected to God Sorry, how we're called to be by God to be in a community And he's always intended from the moment of creation all the way through For community to be this integral part of life for us as man That we actually weren't made to do it alone And from the very beginning Like literally the very beginning That has always been the intention of God In Genesis 2.18 says And God said it is not good that man should be alone And will make him a help me for him or a helper for him So right from the beginning of creation The intention was that man being alone was not good And this leads to the creation of Eve This leads to an immediate establishment Of community in creation Because the alone man was literally not good And this actually reflects God in himself Who has always existed in a community The father, the son, the spirit For all eternity pass Living in community creates us man to live in community And that actually is the way to live And that's the way to live And that's the way to live And that's the way to live in community And that actually is what makes it good Yeah, when we don't avail ourselves to all of the tools that God has given us For, you know, godliness and human flourishing Then we're only availing ourselves to part of What it means to truly do what he asks us to do And then our second reference is Ephesians 3, 17 to 19 Now granted this does come in in the middle of one of Paul's really long sentences But this reads, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith And that you being firmly rooted and grounded in love Maybe able to comprehend with all the saints What is the breadth and length and height and depth And to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge That you may be filled up to all the fullness of God And it's like a... It's like a... how did you describe that? It's like an Uber feeling It's like a... I can't really think of it I gave a little picture How do you get filled with God? It's hard to even... It's hard to actually understand this kind of concept How could you possibly be filled with all the fullness of God God being this infinite being And we are so very finite It's like if you had a cup in the ocean And if you put a cup in the ocean and it sits on the top But then you press it under the water And it begins to fill with the water And at no point will that water necessarily be the same It's constantly being filled with the water Yet the cup is always totally full Of the fullness of the ocean And that's the gift there But the understanding of that love comes With all the saints It was intended to be known With all the saints And in that view we see a full picture of how God's love unfolds And I can see this in Christians that have died centuries ago I can see this in Christians That I've never met Because I've seen how the love of God is poured out in their life And I get a fuller understanding of how God Love is And that is one of the gifts of community That the fullness of God's love is shown in his community To be able to understand it well we need community And then Hebrews 10, 24, 25 Is one of our staple verses And let us consider how we may spur one another on Towards love and good works Not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together as the habit of somebody Encouraging one another and all the more as the day approaches Which is just a key verse We can't forsake gathering We need to be together, we need the community Because in the community we're able to stir one another up Towards love and good deeds Literally the term there is agitation It's a A shaking and a stirring to agitate and combine Towards good works We're able to do that only together That essence and necessity of community in creation and in the church is what we were made to do Made to be And just this little clip So this little clip of blue realizing this That community is so much better When done together Is it amazing how much you can just Can't we're not even done we're not even done getting all of the things but isn't just amazing how much you can get from Just a little kid show Stopping and thinking Yep And this next part is really great I think Because it takes that next level of community And to actually consider someone else in community Here they're going to ultimately reassemble And try to get this game back together now that Bingo is going to join back in And I think in this moment after they've connected again And everyone's doing their tasks There's this final moment of who's going to control the adults And Bluey steps in With a pretty good realization So I'm going to No, or me, I'm going to have to do it Bluey, I'm going to Bluey Bingo's going to Real life, real life Oh, that's bluey Go, Bingo Yeah, Bingo Okay, go up, go crazy Bluey, go Bluey Bluey Bluey Bluey Well done, Bingo I mean, spa, who's short The last one, Bingo Get it Looks like we're going to have dates Look at this Looks like we're going to have beats like kids Sorry, I'll let that one play a little too far It's all good Bluey In this moment gets to realize that She can put Bingo ahead of herself And she can sacrifice to let Bingo take that moment And the importance of loving others in place that there is a head of their own Which is a foreign concept in our own culture This idea is not You are supposed to look out for your interests in our culture You have to consider your emotions and your feelings first That is not a biblical concept No, not at all No, like we can acknowledge there's sort of like Put your oxygen mask on first and then you're able to help others Like we get that That's not the biblical paradigm of emotional understanding That is a tangible, physical reality in an emergency situation But they'll you take that metaphor And apply it to everything else in your life Are you feeling dissatisfied Well, you need to satiate your desires first So that you can then be a good friend to others That is not the biblical paradigm at all The biblical paradigm is actually modeling Christ who, oh by the way Was God came to earth, became God in man And then died and resurrected for us Considering us first Like that it's like Such a gross, sticky thing that our world does But there's a great verse for this One of my favorites A little section from Philippians chapter 2 verses 1 through 4 Did you want to read that one, Jess? I did not have that one pulled up If you don't I can pull it up real quick I'm sure I can Who's gonna win? Who's gonna win? You might, I don't like this version I mean if I read it you don't get to pick the version So He brewed, sorry, Philippians 2 under 4 says Therefore if there's any encouragement in Christ Any comfort provided by love Any fellowship in the spirit, any affection or mercy Complete my joy and be of the same mind By having the same love, being united in the spirit And having one purpose Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity Each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another As more important than yourself Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interests But about the interests of others Paul's desire for the Philippian church Was that they put others ahead of themselves That they in humility care and love for the needs of others And it pulls out this selfish ambition, this pride Right? And puts in the place the humility to care for others And that's just a little glimpse of what Bluey did Bluey did that very thing This is all enacted in the context of community That we need each other and we need to be a part of community as well And in that we can then allow ourselves to take our ambitions And put them into a backseat to allowing others To caring well and loving others and their desires Yes and amen Yes and amen And that is episode 13 of Bluey, season 1 Spot games You know, for not one of our favorite episodes, we sure did get a bunch of good stuff out of that Hey man, you know, if you just apply You're pretty good Little biblical thinking We can actually get some really good stuff Amen Well, as we like to say at the end of each Bluey We'll see you next time kids Catch you on the flip side, Willy
